Greg unloading Junior off the horse trailer for our ride. This was at a different ranch consisting of 4000 acres. This ranch was an open range where the cattle roamed free.
The horse on the left is Rebel, which Kim rode. Rebel turned out be quite a rebel. He was determined to do his own thing. When he bucked and reared up, Greg took over Rebel and Kim took Greg's horse.
This is Bear, Greg's Rottweiler. Greg is a wonderful dog, trained to herd cattle, stand-off bulls during rides. Whenever we encountered a bull, Greg would order Bear with a hand motion ONLY to "stand off" the bull so the bull wouldn't charge us.
There were numerous ponds and Bear loved taking dips all along the way. Greg constantly kept his eye on Bear, always on the lookout for alligators. Because Bear is a Rottweiler, he cost more than a regular range dog and Greg wants to keep Bear around a long time!
It's kind of hard to see the bull, just in front of Bear, but this is Bear "standing off" the black Angus bull.
A black Angus bull taking a dip!
