Along the way, two pressure hoses burst on the stabilizer system. When we pulled into Columbus Marina the day before, Chuck arranged to have them removed at Demopolis. They would measure them, phone the measurements ahead to Mobile, AL who would have them made up for us and do a quick change-over when we arrived. Because it would be the Labor Day weekend, it was a possibility that we would be holed up on Mobile until Tuesday. I decided to have new hoses fabricated here. As a result, we did not lose any "mechanical" days and were able to leave at noon. |
If you look closely, you can see a water moccasin working its way along the dock (left hand side of the picture.) | There is only one North American poisonous water sane - the Cottonmouth Water Moccasin. This snake is a pit viper in the same general family as the Copperhead and the Rattler. This dangerous semi-aquatic snake is truly an aggressive reptile that will stand its ground or even approach an intruder. |
Our arrival at Bobby's Fish Camp, Bladen Springs, AL. See more on tomorrow's page. |
