If you notice, the dates
went from September 3rd to September 18th. On 9/3, Tropical Storm 12
was in the Gulf, heading our way. Although it blew over, Brad did
not want to leave. He flew back to Atlanta and I flew back to Ft
Lauderdale. Kent Reeves, a different employee of the owner, met me
at Tallahassee Airport and we took a cab to Apalachicola. We left
the next morning at 7:00 AM for Clearwater. |
The bottom line is - we
ran out of fuel - well, kind of. The boat holds about 685 gallons of
fuel. Two forward tanks hold 185 total and the aft tanks hold 500
gallons total. We were having problems when switching over to the
aft tanks so we ran most of the time off the forward tanks, which, of
course, hold less fuel. 28 miles from Clearwater, I decided to switch over
to the aft tanks. That was it! the engines shut down and I
could not get them re-started. So I called Boat US and we were towed
in Tarpon Springs. |
